Dear Patients and Friends,

I heard a great talk this week from Rabbi Manis Friedman, a renown NYC author and public speaker and he said something excellent:

“The difference between a virus and bacteria: Bacteria are alive, they are living substances. Some are good and some are bad. *There is good bacteria, because where there is life, there is always something good.* But viruses are not living substances, they are parasites. They have no life of their own…they look for life- to get if from that which is alive. A virus is an absence of life and light.. The solution is bring in more life. We have to be more enthusiastic about life. We have to celebrate life more intensely, with more joy, more optimism. Because to the degree that your life is vibrant and strong, to that degree, the virus can’t siphon life off of it. It can’t get to it. Without siphoning life, viruses have none.”

The message I want to send today is LIVE LIFE MORE FULLY. However you can given the circumstances. We are being pushed and squeezed, to find the good and gift in everything. To love stronger, to give more, to listen better, to help each other…the playing field has been leveled and we are all on the same field. Take moments to grieve, to be concerned, to act responsibly…but don’t let it overshadow the beauty of life. Take in every precious moment you can.

Another Uplifting Message: HERBAL MEDICINE WORKS!

If you’ve been reading my newsletters, you have seen how Chinese herbs have been helping patients with all stages and manifestations of this virus. Its has been exciting and so heart-warming to witness: patients’ symptoms are clearing, and they are recovering strength within days of ingesting their custom herbal blends.

We do have tools for health and prevention. Chinese medicine can help reduce the severity and duration of infection for many patients, with or without a diagnosis. If you are struggling, symptomatic, or know someone who is, please reach out. If you need support with anxiety, insomnia, seasonal allergies, physical pain- we can address this too.

I am preparing what I call “Stage 1,” “Stage 2” and “Stage 3” custom blends based on what I’ve studied in Herbal medicine and what I’m seeing in patients over these last few weeks. “Stage 1” is to be taken at the first sign of infection within the first week of exposure with symptoms of sore throat, headache, dry cough, fever/chills. If herbs are taken within the first 5-7 days of infection, there is a good chance of minimizing severity and duration. If a a patient has been sick over 7 days, and has begun to experience shortness of breathe, severe cough, and exhaustion, they take “Stage 2” and it is customized for their particular manifestation of illness (degree of cough, chest pain, diarrhea, etc.) After 2-3 weeks when symptoms have cleared but fatigue remains, patients take “Stage 3” to restore energy and strengthen immunity while helping the body detox. This too is customized for the patient, and I find myself adding a lot of anxiety support to this blend as well.

How to be in touch for Tele-Medicine Consultations:

My clinic software “Jane” has implemented an awesome new feature to allow for Video-chat in a HIPAA-secure manner and it has been working great. Please call me 347-878-9619 or email miriampineles@gmail.com to set up your phone/video consultation. It is unclear at this time if insurance will reimburse these video-consults. The cost per 30-minute consult is $40 + cost of herbs & shipping. Herbal prescriptions are $70 + tax per bottle. I am available to you on a daily basis for follow-up.

In Peace and Health, and with a Full Heart,

    Miriam

Dear Friends, My colleague and pediatrician, Dr. Elissa Rubin, MD wrote a great blog post that eloquently describes this period we are in. She refers to us as butterflies still stuck in our gooey, crowded and very uncomfortable cocoons. This link she shared puts it...
