Tools for Stress-Relief and Mindful-Living
It is reported that nearly one-third of Americans live with extreme stress. It is the most common among all patients, and can potentially lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and other illnesses, as well as mental disorders like depression and anxiety. Every once in a while, we feel the weight of the world rests on our shoulders, and it is important to eliminate that feeling as soon as possible. Below, you’ll find a list of stress-relief remedies you can easily do at home.
1) A Warm Bath:
– with 2 cups Epsom Salt to relieve muscle tension.
– Add 2 (16oz) bottles of Hydrogen Peroxide for more intense detox (physical and emotional).
– Add a few drops of Essential Oils of your choice: Lavender, Chamomile, Geranium or Eucalyptus if you’re feeling congested.
You can do this 1-3x/week
2) Baking Soda exfoliation scrub in a hot shower:
Literally scrape off your day with this easy and inexpensive spa treatment in your own home! Simply pour some baking soda in your hand, add a few drops water to make a paste, and scrub!
You can do this 1-3x/week
3) Ginger Foot Bath:
Cut a few slices of ginger root and place in warm foot bath. A warm feeling should rise up your body- first ankles, and eventually up to pelvis.
You can do this 1-3x/week
4) Get to your favorite yoga or gym class:
If you can’t get out, go to YouTube and choose a Restorative Yoga class, or just get on your bedroom floor and sit in Child’s pose for 5 minutes.
5) TURN OFF YOUR PHONE/TABLET/COMPUTER:
Enough said : )
6) Drink a cup of delicious tea:
Sip a relaxing tea, including: Chamomile, Lavender, Mint.
7) Meditate!
5-10 minutes a day can change your life and bring more calm, reduce stress hormones and improves clarity and focus, as well as better physical health.
Apps: Headspace, Various fertility meditations, etc. Free on Youtube and www.healthjourneys.com has hundreds to download.
If you don’t have 5-10 minutes, then 1 minute will also work! Start slow and be simple!
8) Practice Gratitude!
Studies show that listing just 5 things per day that you are grateful for will radically reduce chances of becoming depressed and improve quality of life. So get started!
These can be as simple as:
“I’m grateful that my coffee today was hot and delicious”
“I’m grateful that the cashier at CVS smiled at me”
“I’m grateful that my favorite suit was clean for my big meeting today”
Keep writing beyond 5 if you can…
This practice will keep you happy and humble, and keep things in perspective.
9) Call up an old friend:
Or someone that is a good listener. Share your day with them, or be the listening ear they need.
10) GIVE:
There is no better remedy than GIVING. Give to someone who needs your help. ie. Hold the door for someone behind you even though you’re in a rush; Smile at someone; Volunteer for your favorite cause; etc.

11) LAUGH!!!
It is truly the best medicine. Watch a comedy show, funny movie, listen to some jokes, laugh at yourself – whatever it takes.
12) GUA SHA:
Quick and easy way to ease muscle tension and anxiety.

13) Light a candle:
Literally bring light into your life. Candles generate warmth, comfort, and set a nice mood. Use scented candles if you like.
14) Essential Oils:
Are a quick way to enhance or regulate mood. You can simply take a few deep breathes to inhale the oils, or place in a diffuser. Popular oils to choose from: Lavender, Chamomile, Geranium, Rosemary, Eucalyptus.
15) Eat a Warm Nourishing Meal:
Warm foods are easier to digest, and are super-comforting. Ask our front desk for more information on dietary recommendations.
16) Create a Vision Board:
A lot of stress and frustration comes from not actualizing our goals. By taking a step towards your dreams, your stress will be reduced.
17) BREATHE.
